Koch Fertilizer Beatrice, LLC is currently seeking an Instrument and Controls Reliability Engineer to join our Beatrice, Nebraska team.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Continuous engineering support to improve and maintain instrument and controls reliability for the plant

  • Provide technical support for Process Controls & Instrumentation Technicians for maintaining I&E equipment

  • Manage small projects involving instrument and control reliability, and focused improvements

  • Provide subject matter expertise for large capital projects to the corporate engineering support group

  • Collect and analyze reliability data for process instrumentation and develop strategies for improved instrument reliability and performance

  • Participate in root cause failure analysis for unplanned downtime incidents and implement identified improvements

  • Continually evaluate process instrumentation for possible improvement to process safety and reliability

  • Own preventative and predictive maintenance programs for instrumentation, controls, and related equipment


What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience preparing specifications for process instrumentation including transmitters, control valves, flow meters, and/or analytical equipment

  •  Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Commitment to work safely at all times and fully support all Koch safety and compliance requirements

  • Ability to work extended hours during turnarounds as well as the occasional nights & weekends during call-outs as needed

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics


What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years instrument reliability engineering experience in a continuous process manufacturing plant (Ex: chemical, petrochemical, fertilizer or refining)

  • Experience supporting loop checks and commissioning of basic process control and safety systems

  • Experience with ISA 84 Safety Instrumented Systems configuration

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming and Yokogawa or Rosemount DCS configuration

  • 2+ years’ experience in Specifying or Commissioning Electrical equipment including Variable Speed drives, motor testing, and 460 Volt Switchgear

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather

  • Ability to sit, stand or kneel as needed

  • Unassisted physical mobility around a plant

  • Occasional exposure to fumes/airborne particles

  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work at heights up to 100 feet
