The Tech-Zone Technologist Sales Associate (TSA) will possess a strong understanding of customer relationship building and consultative sales. The primary focus of this role is to understand a variety of technology products and services to create offerings for customers that are aimed at making both home and business office users more successful. The TSA is a subject matter expert for Small and Medium Business (SMB) and Home customers, and the conduit to selling Managed Service Products (MPS) and Device Managed Service (DMS) within the Office Depot Tech Zone (TZ). The TSA will directly recommend and sell both in-store and in-office services and solutions to small and medium businesses and customers inside of a retail store. The TSA will work closely with the outside sales team by referring more complex business solutions and services to this sales team. TSAs will also assist walk-in customers with technical issues by diagnosing issues and partnering with a remote services team. The TSA is responsible for complete Solution Selling Experience offering SaaS, DaaS, MSP, Cyber Security, and more

  • Partner with store associates to obtain assistance for customers in need of help in areas outside of Tech Services
  • Utilize all resources to obtain and enhance personal knowledge of products, services, and SMB Tech trends
  • Maintain high standards of organization and cleanliness in the Tech Zone area
  • Act as a resource for store associates, providing training and product knowledge for all Tech Services offerings and MSPs
  • Work with store associates to obtain leads and contacts of in-store SMB customers
  • Participate in district calls to provide direct feedback to drive future service offerings and sales opportunities
  • Utilizing advanced selling and customer engagement techniques, seek out and engage in-store customers with leading inquiries designed to identify opportunities to sell various in-office solutions or custom IT solutions through referrals to the field sales team
  • Seek out and engage local small/medium business customers, IT Managers, and key decision makers to sell the value of our unparalleled services and solutions
  • Introduce and demonstrate the value of in-store solutions and MSPs
  • Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions for customers
  • Determine where customer solutions should be referred to outside sales team for higher level solutions/services
  • Execute selling strategies to ensure daily sales and lead generation goals are achieved
  • Work closely with District Services Manager and leadership to understand customer feedback, trends, and MSP updates to ensure that SMB customers are receiving the most qualified solution offerings
  • Other duties as assigned

  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree High School Diploma or GED (Business Sales or Technology preferred)
  • Experience in advanced level technology selling and presales
  • Must be able to read, write and present in English
  • Certifications from leading technology vendor/partners including: HP (AIS, ASP), Apple (ACTC,ACSA), Cisco (CCSP, CCNA, CSE, etc), Citrix (CCA, CCSP), APC (SPD, SPBN, etc), Microsoft, other software certifications as identified are preferred
  • Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment
  • Strong proven track record of building, developing and managing strategic channel partnerships
  • Strong organizational and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written
  • Must be able to present complex topics (i.e., pricing and service strategies)
  • Must have a demonstrated record of relationship and account generation
