The CPG Engineering team consists of 170 individuals across the United States working with our 15 Tissue Towel and Napkin mills and our 8 Dixie facilities on capital project execution as well as run-ability of current assets.  We are engineers, project managers and designers focused on a quality delivery.  We partner with our mills as one team, one vision, one result.  We currently are seeking a Director Converting Engineering to join our CPG Engineering team. 

 

Georgia Pacific employs roughly 2,200 people at our Green Bay facility. Every day, GP employees and products help maintain a strong, stable economy in Northeastern Wisconsin. Green Bay offers year-round recreation with 19 ski resorts with 100 miles of fishing and boating on rivers and the Great lakes. 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

Manage a group of engineers and manufacturing support staff who provide technical services and capital project support. Responsibilities of the group you supervise include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Manage and enforce Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance in all activities of the group with the objective of achieving zero incidents

  • Participate in the development or selection of standard technologies and support a vision of innovation and automation

  • Provide technical expertise in support of scope development of capital projects

  • Analyze existing systems, and develop strategies for improving safety, reliability, efficiency, and quality

  • Perform benchmarking, gap closure analysis, and preliminary technical and economic feasibility studies for the modification of or addition to existing converting technology

  • Coordinate, review and approve work done by engineering consultants

Responsibilities:


  • Manage employee performance through RREs, feedback, Individual Development Plans and Performance Reviews

  • Provide personal development guidance for your direct reports

  • Strategically review the needs of the customer and ensure the skills of your team meet those needs

  • Work collaboratively as part of the CPG Engineering Leadership Team to deliver advantaged engineering services

  • Analyze existing systems, and develop strategies for improving safety, reliability, efficiency, and quality

  • Leadership skills, including the ability to interact effectively with R&D, business units, manufacturing and other staff support groups

  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel including management, operating and maintenance personnel

  • Strategic thinking and ability to make decisions based on data and facts

  • Effective communication skills

  • Experience building relationships within an organization and with external customers

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience using a structured performance management process

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience leading and implementing engineering projects

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with theoretical and practical aspects of design, construction, operation and maintenance of continuous manufacturing 

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with MS Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, & Word

  • Minimum travel of 50%

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s or higher in Mechanical Engineering

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management

  • A minimum of 1 year experience working In the Pulp and Paper industry
