Position Summary

DRS Land Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer IV with a concentration on Digital Design. This position is for a Senior Digital Design Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration of digital electronic modules and/or CCAs. Must be experienced in all aspects of circuit card design from concept through delivery to higher level assemblies as evidenced by multiple successful design completions. This support will be applied to a variety of military programs including navigation systems, land systems, communication and control systems as well as other programs. 


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems. 

  • Develop high-level and detailed designs consistent with customer requirements and specifications.

  • Review customer specifications and requirements, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable. 

  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services.

  • Trouble shoot and diagnose malfunctions in existing systems and make recommendations.

  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks.

  • Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments.

  • Drive the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements.

  • Ability to complete a technical project independently and mentor and coach other engineers.

  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services.

  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required.

  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel.

  • May mentor and coach the work of others as assigned.

  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.


    Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.

  • 8+ years of digital engineering work experience preferred.

  • Experience in the design and development of digital electronic circuitry.

  • Experience with low level discrete circuits, FPGA/CPLD VHDL design, and high speed interfaces.

  • Experience developing military electronic hardware a plus.

  • Experience interfacing hardware components into a complete spec compliant system.

  • Experience designing and maintaining system Interface Control Documents (ICD).

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tool suite.

  • Ability to obtain secret clearance and passport.



Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge on developing military electronic hardware a plus.

  • Rugged electrical systems experience and mechanical aptitude is a plus.

  • Knowledge on and experience with circuit simulation and schematic capture applications.

  • Knowledge using military grade components for electronic design.

  • Must be able to determine the hardware compatibility of a system.

  • Strong design automation skills.
