Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking two skilled safety analysts for its Reactor Physics Analysis & Design Department. The position requires in-depth knowledge of basic safety design philosophy and approaches relative to sodium cooled fast reactors. The position requires in-depth understanding of potential initiators and outcomes of plant transients in which the plant protection system operates as designed but also in which it is postulated to fail. The position requires in-depth knowledge of the analytical tools used to demonstrate adequate safety margins are available. Past experience with actual Safety Analysis Reports is a plus.

You will contribute to reactor design activities such as, but not limited to, those related to the on-going Versatile Test Reactor program. You will publish work in various customer-required reports. You will be involved in the preparation, peer review, and delivery of proposals, program plans, oral presentations and other activities related to development of new INL programs and projects in areas of expertise. You must be able to work in a team environment but must also be able to work independently and show initiative.


MS degree in nuclear engineering plus 1 year of relevant experience or a PhD in nuclear engineering. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills required.
