SUMMARY OF POSITION:
As a member of the EAP Team, and under the direction of the EAP management, this individual performs clinical assessments, case planning, referrals, and follow-up of staff, employees, and their household members who utilize the program. Acts as a resource and provides consultation and training to supervisors and managers when dealing with employee performance and personal problems. Screens and selects qualified and appropriate referral resources for mental health, substance abuse, family and other personal problems.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides assessment, consultation, information and referral to staff, employees and family members on all types of personal problems.

Provides brief treatment and crisis intervention services when assessment indicates that problem resolution can be realized on a short term basis.

Reviews all high-risk cases with EAP Supervisor, EAP Manager, Corporate EAP Director, and/or Medical Director.

Conducts follow-up sessions and evaluation of clients progress and satisfaction with referral resource.

Maintains client and statistical records and other required documentation for program maintenance and evaluation.

Consults with managers and supervisors about potential referrals to the EAP, methods of intervention and follow-up evaluation of results.

Collaborates with Occupational Health, Employee Relations, Human Resource Generalists, and related personnel around problems with employees.

Develops and provides ongoing evaluations of referral resources based on provider competencies and needs of employee population.

Delivers employee orientations to familiarize employee population with EAP services. May deliver presentations or seminars on an as needed basis.

Contributes to the support of the programs overall goals and objectives through participation in meetings and activities.

Provides on-call coverage and back up on-call coverage and is available for after-hour response.

Conducts him or herself with high professional standards and executes extreme care regarding confidentiality issues.

Adheres to federal, state, and professional laws and regulations in regard to all of the above matters.

Participates in and keeps abreast of professional laws and regulations in regard to all of the above matters.

Participates in and keeps abreast of professional training and development and maintains required licensure.

Masters level mental health clinician with appropriate state licensure: Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), RN/MSN or Ph.D., and Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) or CEAP eligible, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and CEAP or CEAP eligible, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) along with CEAP (or CEAP eligible) or Certified Alcoholism Counselor and/or Certified Addictions Specialist

A minimum of three years clinical experience post masters degree, training and experience in chemical dependency. Previous EAP experience strongly preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
This position requires knowledge of and ability to work with the diverse issues and needs of various multicultural, ethnic, socio-economic, educational, and age-specific populations found within the organization. EAP Counselors must also have working knowledge of and the ability to intervene in a broad range of clinical problems such as family, interpersonal, parent-child, substance abuse, and suicide/homicide risk.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE WITH:
Crisis intervention
Clinical assessment including alcohol/drug assessment and intervention
Clinical measurement tools (i.e. GAF)
Staff support following a critical incident
Brief psychotherapy

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate effectively with management, professional staff, union/non-union personnel at all levels
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good organizational and time management skills
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Employee will work in an office setting when seeing clients. Travel between EAP offices to provide client or organizational services will be required. Services are provided in multiple locations (i.e. training seminars and workgroup interventions are usually done at the work-site). Occasional evening and emergency coverage may be required. Offices may at times need to be shared.
