Under the supervision of nursing staff, the ED Attendant provides personal care services and continuous observation of patients who need constant supervision.

1. Prepare meal trays, clear bedside table, remove cover from food, open containers

2. Reorient the patient as appropriate; time, place, person

3. Straighten bed and/or change bed linens when patient is out of bed

4. Straighten up patient s room and assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the unit

5. Provide fluids, ice as permitted

6. Accompany patient off the unit as needed

7. Read or converse with the patient

8. Remain with patient at all times during assigned duty

9. Perform dignity checks on patients

10. Takes vitals on patients and assists new patient s arrival to room.

11. Assist the nursing staff by coordinating non-clinical activities on the nursing unit

12. Maintain unit filing and paperwork as assigned by the Charge Nurse or Director

13. Display respect for patient s integrity, patient information and patient rights.
14. Demonstrate compassionate approach through tone of voice, effective listening and sensitivity to individual needs

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED

* Florida CNA OR be a Nursing student having completed the first clinical course in the hospital setting.

* Current American Heart Association BLS.

* Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) within 30 days of hire.
