The Emergency Department is a 47-bed Level IV Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain Center and JCAHO certified Stroke Center. This fun, fast-paced energetic team provides medical and trauma services to approximately 55,000+ patients annually. The patients are primarily adult with 25% being pediatric. Nurses provide the primary patient care with assistance from Emergency Room Techs.
The Emergency Department is the Adult Sexual Assault site for the City of Austin as well as having a Hyperbaric Unit, CT and Ultrasound in Dept. Department has a strong emphasis on stroke and head injuries and also cardiac patients. Nurse to Patient ratio: 1:2 for critical care patients and 1:5 for standard ED patients.
Required: Graduation from an NLN school of professional nursing. At least 2 years of recent experience as an RN in an Emergency Room.
Preferred: Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree.
Required: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas. Current certification from the American Heart Association as a BLS provider.
