Since 1983, Cypress Fairbank Medical Center has offered a wide array of health services and specialties. At Cy-Fair Hospital, you will find 24-hour emergency care, 181 licensed beds, a Primary Stroke Center, an accredited Chest Pain Center, pediatric care, bariatrics, ob-gyn services and more.

Cy-Fair Hospital works to meet the community s needs with four emergency rooms at the hospital and three offsite, as well as two urgent care facilities offering night and weekend hours.

CYPRESS FAIRBANKS MEDICAL CENTER is currently looking for a PHLEBOTOMIST LABORATORY.

Responsibilities:

The Phlebotomists primary responsibility is performing phlebotomy procedures on all age groups using a variety of different techniques. The phlebotomist must be able to demonstrate skill and knowledge in order to obtain the best possible sample for testing, as required for the care and treatment of the patient. The phlebotomist must interface in a professional manner with patients, family members, physicians, and other hospital staff as related to their duties and under the philosophy, policies, and procedures established by the hospital and department. Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient s status in order to identify each patient s age-specific needs and provide the care needed by the neonate, pediatric, adult, and/or geriatric patient group.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensure/certification/registration:

REQUIRED: CPR certified within one month of hire through American Heart Association.

PREFERRED: Technical or vocational training Medical assistant or phlebotomy certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Experience, as a phlebotomist in a hospital setting preferred. Proficient in specimen collection with all age group. SPECIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to learn and integrate technical aspects of the laboratory as a whole

Ability to make quick and accurate decisions under stress and emergency situations

Ability to use computers (i.e. Windows, Microsoft, LIS)

Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently

Ability to work in area(s) that are confined and/or crowded

Ability to manage anger/fear/hostility/violence of others

Ability to work alone or with a group

Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
