SENIOR ENGINEER
ELECTRICAL POWER DISTRIBUTION & CONTROLS
 

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join the Containerboard & Cellulose Technical Services team in Atlanta, GA.  This position is also available as homebased in southeast with easy access to airports.  As a Senior Engineer you will be responsible for providing engineering expertise for the reliability, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and trouble-shooting of electrical power distribution and control systems for the division.  The ideal candidate will have a combination of electrical power distribution and control systems expertise that will enable them to effectively provide the division’s pulp & paper mills with capital project and manufacturing services support.


 

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


 


  • Analysis of existing systems Electrical Power Distribution & Control Systems and development of strategies for improving safety, reliability and efficiency

  • Identification of needs and opportunity for Electrical Power Distribution & Control Systems improvements including evaluation of technical and economic feasibility

  • Ensure all applicable assets in the mills run reliable

  • Coordination, review and approval of work done by engineering consultants

  • Project field engineering, including construction, startup, and commissioning support

  • Facilitating Root Cause Analysis and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis

  • Facilitating operational and behavioral changes at the mill level for Electrical Power Distribution & Control Systems

  • Providing technical and procedural expertise and reference for Electrical Power Distribution & Control Systems

  • Safety and reliability audits of Electrical Power Distribution & Control Systems

  • Development and updating of design, operation, reliability and maintenance standards

  • Collaboration with purchasing and mills on development of sourcing strategies for equipment and services

  • Managing and enforcing environmental, health and safety compliance in all activities with the objective of achieving zero incidents

  • Training of operators, supervisors, and process engineering personnel


 

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, or equivalent education.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with Electrical Power Distribution & Control Systems in one or more of the following areas: engineering design, construction, operation, maintenance, manufacturer’s technical service representative

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, & Outlook

  • Experience with “EasyPower” power system modeling software or equivalent

  • Application of theoretical and practical aspects of the design, modeling, construction, operation and maintenance of turbine/generators and electrical distribution systems

  • Experience in modeling electrical distribution systems (understanding outputs and proposing solutions)

  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel from mill operating and maintenance personnel to top corporate management

  • Ability to travel at least 60%

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering

  • Professional Engineering certification

  • Experience within Pulp & Paper Industry

  • Experience with turbine/generators
