PRIMARY PURPOSE: Act as liaison to the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) faculty, students, the Department of Clinical Education, and administration while coordinating and managing the entire third and fourth year COM curriculum.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
In coordination with the COM clinical curriculum coordinators, clerkship directors, and regional directors, help to deliver the following reports to the COM curriculum committee (DOCC) and the Clinical Education Departmental meetings: current status of all courses, course evaluations, student performance, student needs and concerns, focus group feedback, assessment needs and concerns, and curriculum assessment.
Organize and facilitate student-driven focus groups to receive course feedback for use in assessment, curricular improvement, refinement of academic policies/procedures, and accreditation.
Monitor, assess, meet, refer, and report any students in academic difficulty.
Review and approve/reject all clinical student excused absence applications.
Coordinate makeup and remediation examinations with the Office of Testing and Clinical Education.
Aggregate and perform statistical analysis on student outcome data, including: student feedback from focus groups and evaluations, NBME subject exams, clerkship directors, and preceptor evaluations to make suggestions for curricular improvement, refinement of academic policies/procedures, and for accreditation.
Act as liaison between clinical clerkship directors, preceptors, Directors of Preclinical Education, and COM faculty for curricular issues and accreditation.
Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Integrated Curriculum, the Campus Dean or his/her designee.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist administration, faculty and staff in special projects as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrate knowledge of and skill in designing and administering clinical medical educational curricula.
Demonstrated experience in instituting varied curriculum templates.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate students and peers.
Four (4) years academic experience at a medical school, preferably with students in a clinical education environment.
Experience in use of software programs used in the clinical education setting such as New Innovations, Microsoft Office
Experience in implementing projects related to curricular improvement, accreditation, and student portfolio development.
Experience in dealing effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize work projects.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others in accomplishing projects.
