The Senior Project Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely Property, Plant and Equipment accounting records, reports and systems in connection with Colonial’s $3 billion gross fixed asset balances. Provides guidance and service to business partners. Contribute to the planning of depreciation, amortization and capital on the budget.

Perform the accounting activities for all construction projects including Authorization for Expenditure issuance, account classification, monitoring of expenditures and closing of such projects to ensure company procedures and regulatory requirements are met.
Prepares detailed fixed asset transactions and perform related reconciliation. Reviews capital and reimbursable projects, and prepares and distributes monthly reports.
Supports internal and external audits of the Property Accounting function including preparation of schedules, analyses and internal control narratives.
Oversees preparation of reports as required by leadership as well as various state and federal agencies in a timely and accurate manner.
Prepares accounting and reconciliation of the Maximo material inventory system resolving discrepancies and recommending process improvements.
Participate in technical research and application of GAAP and FERC accounting standards. Demonstrates the ability to apply problem solving, critical thinking to accounting transactions and recommend accounting treatment.
Masters the processes and related systems necessary to manage Company’s fixed asset and inventory initiatives including Oracle, PowerPlan, Host, Maximo and AFE systems.
Assess and analyze project spending in line with related budgets and communicate effectively with internal and external resources with progress reporting.
Prepares analysis needed for periodic depreciation studies, surveys, and annual analyses of intangible assets and the asset retirement obligations of the Company.
BA Accounting or Finance
5+ years accounting experience
Progressive experience in accounting areas of property, revenue and/or project accounting.
Demonstrated proficiency with financial systems including experience with high volume transaction systems
Strong Computer skills (MS Office)
Prior exposure to FERC Uniform System of Accounts
Pipeline or related industry experience
Power Plan, Oracle
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Understanding of basic Procurement principles
Understanding of the Pipeline industry a plus
Understanding of and experience with GAAP
