Job Description:

Job Summary: The Supervisor is responsible for achieving program KPIs by providing quality and efficient service to customers.  This is achieved through the daily management of the employee and includes motivating, recognizing and rewarding, coaching, training and problem solving.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide daily direction and communication to employees in a timely, efficient and knowledgeable manner

  • Provide continual evaluation of processes and procedures; suggest methods to improve area operations, efficiency and service to both internal and external customers

  • Provide statistical and performance feedback and coaching on a regular basis to each team member

  • Advise and counsel employees that experience problems by providing appropriate coaching, direction and resolution

  • Ensure employees have appropriate training and other resources to perform their jobs; respond and resolve employee relations issues expressed by team members; create and maintain high quality work environment so team members are motivated to perform at their highest level

  • Address disciplinary and/or performance problems according to company policy; make effective/appropriate decisions relative to corrective action as required

  • Reviews employee’s work hours using company provided software to ensure employee has logged time accurately by validating each log in and out activity; updates schedules as needed

  • Monitors attendance and occurrences according to company policy and procedures

  • Performs disciplinary actions as needed 

  • Assist and support the Program Manager with daily operation to include: the analysis and implementation of staffing, training, scheduling;  leader of special or on-going projects that are important to the program and process improvement; ongoing review of program operational statistics against contractual obligations and client needs; communication with client as required by Program Manager

  • Establish work procedures and processes that support program, company and departmental standards, procedures and strategic directives

  • Use appropriate judgment in upward communication regarding functional area and employee concerns

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by program manager or upper management staff.

Management Responsibilities: (if applicable)

  • Responsible for providing employees with timely, candid and constructive feedback; developing employees to their full potential and providing challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments. 

Minimum (Required) Qualifications: (must be met in order to perform the job at the required level)


  •  Three years experience in reimbursement case management, preferable in the insurance and/or pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry

  • Proficient in all aspects of reimbursement (i.e. benefit investigation, prior authorization, pre-certification)

  • Past supervisory experience of at least three years

  • Associates Degree in management or healthcare

Preferred Qualifications: (if above and beyond the minimum required)


  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred

  • A designation as a Certified Case Manager or licensed practical nurse or social worker is also preferred

Physical Demands: May sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day. May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day. May be necessary to work extended hours as needed. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion. Visual acuity to see and read fine prints. Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear normal voice sounds. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this role.
