Our client, Indian Affairs (IA), established in 1824, is the oldest bureau of the United States Department of the Interior. Bureau of Indian Affairs employees across the country work with tribal governments in the administration of law enforcement and justice; agricultural and economic development; tribal governance; and natural resources management programs to enhance the quality of life in 566 federally recognized American Indian and Alaska Native tribal communities.

We are looking for a Systems Administrator to work with the Indian Affairs Information Technology (IAIT) support team headquartered in Albuquerque, NM.


Includes the following:

  • Primary functions are to support Microsoft Windows Servers within a large enterprise using both Microsoft Hyper-V and VMWare
  • Provide Active Directory support including, but not limited to, User and Computers, DNS, DHCP, Site and Services
  • Perform system monitoring with Microsoft SCOM and similar tools
  • Duties include, but are not limited to, providing support to lower tier personnel, backup and recovery of systems, performance tuning, application software upgrades, hardware upgrades, operational configurations, and resource optimization.
  • Perform other technical and non-technical tasks as directed




  • Associates Degree or Certificate from technical training institute or an Associates Degree or Certificate from VMware in Datacenter Virtualization is a plus
  • A minimum of 3 years of related technical experience in supporting Information
  • Technology environment at the server/data center level. Support would include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.
  • Ability to support Microsoft and Linux Operating systems. Knowledge of other Microsoft Products used to manage an enterprise operation. Ability to develop project management documentation.
  • Ability to work without guidance. Serves as SME for information technology projects.
  • Experience in VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • A familiarity with any or all of the following is beneficial: Active Directory tools, Group Policies, Distributed File System (DFS), Service Center, scripting languages, backup and restore policies and procedures, SAN/NAS devices utilizing NFS or iSCSI.
  • Ability to work without guidance and work well in a team environment.
  • Must be a permanent resident or citizen of the United States
