The Global Data & Analytics unit offers innovative solutions that provide actionable insights to internal and external business partners and customers that help reduce health costs, improve outcomes, provide financial security and measure/forecast business performance. The Health Plan Analytics (HPA) Affordability Goals and Outcomes (AGO) team drives affordability strategies and outcome measurement of our affordability solutions. This individual will be responsible for conducting advanced analytics and research activities in efforts to accurately measure program outcomes, evaluate competitive positioning of those values, and estimate future value to Cigna's position. This role will work independently and collaboratively with key technical and non-technical matrix partners within organization.

Role Summary: In this role you will be conducting advanced and exploratory analytics, generating insights to support strategic directions for Cigna's affordability solutions, advance competitive positioning of our solutions, and implementing governance and standards to valuation of our solutions.
Collaborate and work closely with stakeholders to evaluate affordability solutions and competitive positioning of those solutions. Example programs include: Value Based Care/Payment (hospital and physician Accountable Care Organization (ACO) programs, Episodes of Care/Bundle programs, Oncology Medical Home, etc.) and medical management (UM/CM) programs.
Apply robust and appropriate statistical and clinical rigor using advanced analytic techniques including but not limited to risk adjustment, episode analytics (ETG, Prometheus etc.), statistical modeling, power analysis, matched case control studies etc.
Provide governance and implement standards on program measurement for consistent and rigorous valuation of Cigna's solutions
Present analytic findings and recommendations to non-technical business partners and leadership to drive data driven strategies.
Work with pricing for appropriate application of valuations into our competitive price positions.
Explore and advise innovative solutions to business questions/problems.
Supervise, coach, and develop colleagues.
This position requires healthcare and insurance content knowledge, analytics/data science expertise and value based program expertise to support Cigna on Pay-for-performance strategy.
Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Outcomes Research, Actuarial Science, or Data Science
At least 5 years’ work experience in related healthcare analytics and research, executing evaluations leveraging advanced statistical study methods, including but not limited to variations/combinations of matching and regression models.
Statistical training in school or through work with the ability to formulate and execute appropriate confidence intervals, power analysis, bootstrapping, regression modeling, etc.
Technical skills required: Python, R and SAS
Experience with Teradata and Hadoop and output through advanced visualization tools including, but not limited to: Tableau/R/Python
Strong Healthcare data knowledge and hands on experience with the following: medical claims data, clinical data, pharmacy data and eligibility data
Subject matter expert in healthcare cost and quality metrics, including but not limited to various episode models (ETG, Prometheus, etc.), quality measures (HEDIS, PQRS etc.) and Value Based Payment programs (ACO, bundles, episodes, etc.)
Strong knowledge and experience with analytic tools and applications like episode analytics and risk adjustment
Working clinical knowledge on specialty conditions and deep understanding of health care and delivery system processes
Ability to successfully navigate and contribute in a highly-matrixed environment
Go Getter who enjoys problem solving and creating innovative solutions and visions working with various business stakeholders
Strong verbal/written communication and leadership skills to work with various matrix partners, including but not limited to clinical, actuarial, medical economics, contracting, business, marketing, and IT/IM.
Emerging track record of presentations / publications and thought leadership
