Job Description:


The Site Materials Manager is responsible for ensuring timely flow of materials through the plant, materials strategy, inventory control and management functions, production scheduling, procurement, and logistics coordination.


5-10% Production scheduling and raw materials planning to maintain a balance of service levels, inventory levels and change-over time.

5-10% Establish and manage vendor qualifications and performance tracking measures and procedures. Negotiation of supply contracts and leases for goods, services and equipment. Establish solid business relationships with all vendors in order to negotiate pricing. Ensure multiple and/or backup sources of supply to ensure availability on materials for production schedule. Maintain current and complete vendor files on all supplies and materials.

5-10% Provide training and development plans, to include coaching, training and staffing for employees to ensure facility and department goals are aligned. Track performance based on goals and quantifiable measurements.

10-15% Manage the receiving function to maintain accurate raw material inventory balances. Communication with applicable internal departments and vendors to include, but limited to, scheduling activities etc.

10-15% Implement and manage control systems (i.e. WMS) and processes (i.e. cycle counting, FIFO) to ensure inventories are maintained accurately and effectively across plant and offsite warehouse operations.

10-15% Manage waste and recycle programs. Ensure that scrap/surplus materials and any salvageable byproduct associated with the plant are sold to maximize return to the company.

15-20% Manage security department on site to ensure assets, people and materials are safe and secured.

5-10% Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Supply Chain Manager

Technical knowledge/skills
  • Intermediate proficiency inMicrosoft Office Suite and ERP systems (PS or SAP)
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS -RF),
  • Adept working with Inventory Management Systems and processes, such as FIFO, LIFO, WIP, Physical counts, Cycle counts, and process controls
  • Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and software, such as Carrier Point, JDA, and Oracle Transportation Management
  • Intermediate knowledge of Supply Chain Planning software/systems (JDA Master Planning/Foresting). Advanced experience in either MRO supplies or raw materials prefer both.
  • Advanced experience working with standard Manufacturing concepts, practices, & procedures
  • Familiar with People Soft, Maximo and Aspen

  • BA/BS Degree required
  • 5+ years related experience in a high volume manufacturing, distribution, production planning, inventory management environment
  • APICS Certification preferred
