The Cryptographic Business Office team is highly independent and is trusted with full responsibility for all aspects of policy, operations, automation and engineering for the cryptography that supports the heart of the DNS registries we operate and protect. The cryptography team members’ ideas matter, and they respect that there’s often more than one way to do any job. They are highly collaborative, and all team members are given creative license to innovate and solve problems. Fresh ideas are encouraged and team members at all levels contribute to team success.
You will interact with stakeholders throughout the entire organization by coordinating and performing DNSSEC Key Signing Ceremonies which provide the basis of trust and authentication for the DNS. You will be responsible for maintaining the security of the cryptographic keys at the root of the internet as well as the largest top level domains. This is a unique opportunity to bring your systems, development and security experience and allow us to teach you DNS and cryptography. Or, maybe you already have these skills. Then perhaps you can teach us a thing or two!
The candidate for this position will need to:
Install, maintain, and configure production, staging and quality assurance environments to support Verisign's DNSSEC services. Environments include servers, operating systems, hardware security modules (HSMs) and other cryptographic related material.
Perform daily operations support functions, including problem isolation and resolution
Perform implementations and follow strict procedural documents to the letter
Use a methodological approach to all activities which is compliant with industry best practices
Interface with Development, QA, Performance, Project Management, Customer Service, Business, and other Operations organizations
Work with the team to develop necessary automation tools and scripts.
Coordinate with other technical staff to implement systems and software
Acquire thorough understanding of Verisign's applications and operational environments
Document processes, procedures, configurations, and deployment plans
Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
Travel - 10%-25% (negotiable), domestic and international (Must be able to acquire a passport.)
Candidate should also be an effective communicator who can work within a multi-stakeholder environment and represent Verisign and Team effectively to both internal and external customers, vendors and other resources.
The following attributes will assist in ensuring success in this role:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years full-stack web development and systems engineering experience (DevOps)
Strong scripting skills (Python, Shell,etc.)
Experience with automating production processes and procedures
Preferred technical qualifications:
Experience with DNS and DNSSEC
Experience with the SOC audit framework and procedures
Experience with cryptography and Public Key Infrastructure frameworks
Experience with Enterprise deployment automation tools (Ansible, Docker or similar)
Knowledge of Agile Workflow Methodology
Proficiency with Red Hat Linux Administration
Experience with Information Security, Cryptography, DNSSEC Operations, and Project Management experience
