Job Description:

Directs, coordinates and supervises dispatch activities for milk line haul and special commodity operations at our Sunnyside, Washington terminal.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Coordinates daily operations with Central Dispatch and special commodity coordinator to assign drivers to loads with the appropriate equipment from pick up to destination, using not only local assets, but acquiring and coordinating assets and further assistance from other terminals when necessary.

Works with Operations Manager and driver trainers in evaluating and improving driver performance and operational efficiency.

Communicates with customers and field staff to address customer service issues as they arise.

Prepares and distributes driver and equipment schedules to maintain compliance with load requirements, driver hours of service regulations and equipment maintenance schedules.

Monitors driver on-board data entry activities and makes corrections where necessary to ensure accuracy. Uses the data to manage route standards and farm pickup efficiencies.

Shares after-hours on-call duties with other company managers and supervisors as needed.

Must possess a valid Class A CDL or be willing to obtain one as a condition of employment.

Adheres to the safety policies of LTI, Inc. and complies with the standards set forth by all state, local and industrial governing bodies. Monitors employee compliance with company policy on traffic laws and hours of service regulations.

Prepares, reviews and/or approves driver paperwork, assuring accuracy and completeness. Compares time sheets to PeopleNet reports and CMD-generated driver dispatch to verify all hours worked. Verifies mileage breakdown and applies billing codes to all paperwork. Forwards all paperwork for processing according to company accounting schedules.

Works with driver supervisors and other personnel throughout all NE Regional locations to support and provide operational readiness.

Maintains appropriate telephone or radio contact with employees.

Maintains appropriate contact with customers.

Demonstrates dependability. Consistent attendance is required.

Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training.

Mathematical Skills: Candidate must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The candidate must also possess the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Candidate must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, as well as be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual will need basic computer skills.

Other Skills and Abilities: Good public relations skills are a must to effectively dispatch employees and represent the company to its customers.
