SUMMARY Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates analytical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs quality testing of products including mixing, processing, packaging, and warehouse handling. Maintains records including raw material specifications, finished product specifications and COAs. Evaluates performance of production processes Directs plant personnel in solving production problems, including formulation adjustments and changes. Evaluates organoleptic properties (taste) of products by tasting and smelling the products and visually evaluating color and appearance. Performs quality testing during mixing and processing, directing corrections to mix errors. Inspects packaging for fill, labeling, coding and integrity
Enters test results in QA database Performs routine inspections Monitors HACCP compliance as directed Conducts SSOP audits Data entry as needed
Supports plant SQF Program by monitoring and verifying all quality and food safety checks as directed.
Provides back up to other technicians
Assists with R&D runs
Assists with Sensory Program
Performs assigned Sensory Evaluations/Shelf Life Testing
Assists with customer complaint investigations
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required, secondary education a plus
1-3 years of experience
SQF Practitioner Certification preferred
HACCP Certification preferred
Work experience in food manufacturing is preferred
Strong written and verbal communication and math skills required
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Access
Periodic lifting of up to 30 lbs., pushing and pulling on occasion.
May require standing for a period of 8 hours or more in a day
