This position is an entry level into the analysis of financial statements, creating audit support, and problem solving. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Specialty Benefits Accounting Team who has technical curiosities, and is excited by uncharted processes and challenges. You must love problem solving, and be eager to learn what drives our business and processes. This Financial Accounting Analyst will have 1-5 years' experience in a mid to large size corporate environment.
Responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Monitor financial systems, Identify errors, and prepare monthly correcting entries
Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
Participate on working groups and be part of User acceptance testing related to financial system implementations, and to develop and communicate innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
Assist with or lead the quarterly close calls with entity executives
Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and proposing solutions

Technical curiosity and inclination
Degree in Business Administration or Accounting
Intermediate use of Excel, Word and Powerpoint
Experience with Month End Closing and preparation of financial statements
Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Insurance Industry Experience
Public Accounting Experience
Well-developed communication abilities with strong written and presentation skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
User acceptance testing experience with new accounting software
