Business Analytics Advisor

Cigna Healthcare Network Analytics is incorporating advanced analytical practices and tools to delve much deeper into population health data.  We are developing cutting edge informatics to evaluate cost and quality opportunities to assist in eliminating unnecessary utilization consumption, enhance provider quality of care and improve the well-being of our customers.  Our team extracts and summarizes data, performs reasonability checks against benchmarks, and creates report prototypes. We are succeeding in the development of next generation reimbursement models, inclusive of volume-to value.  We are raising the bar in support of our customers and partnered providers who are benefitting each and every day from the talented and dedicated individuals of the Cigna Healthcare Network Analytics team.

Responsibilities Include:


  • Communication with and influencing of key matrix partners to ensure goals and targets are met or exceeded

  • Drive change initiatives to address prospective business needs. Act as a catalyst through multiple layers to spark enthusiasm, collaboration and results

  • Utilize independent judgment and discretion, identifies trends, variances, and key issues and provides recommendations for adjustment

  • Enhance and improve existing processes to ensure efficiency 

  • Interpret various project scopes and business needs into technical specs for data extraction and manipulation

  • Individually own and deliver on project requests. This includes translating and documenting business needs into a technical solution, and then developing / executing analytic code to generate a report or tool output.

  • Collaborate with Analytic partners to deliver accurate and timely data results.

  • Ensure quality assurance of project code, reports, and scenario tools

  • Support the requirements process related to moving prototype reports to production

  • Support the analytics and reporting infrastructure.  Assist team lead in creating use cases and business requirements.  Partner with IT and participate in proof of concepts for new technologies.

  • Determine opportunities and identify solutions to increase analytical processing efficiency.

  • Support technical mentoring and train of Analytics staff

  • Navigate and contribute in a highly-matrixed environment

Ideal Candidates will offer:


  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years’ experience in an analytics-related field; Healthcare/Financial analysis experience a plus

  • Strong technical skills in data extraction, transformation and report generation, Must have expertise in SQL, SAS, and proven ability to manipulate data from a variety of sources for analytic research and investigation

  • Reporting development experience with Excel, VBA, Powerpoint

  • Teradata/Hadoop/Tableau/Data Visualization/Report Automation a plus

  • Excellent collaboration and partnership skills with proven experience in managing multiple priorities and agility in adapting to change
  • Keen focus on delivery (rapid turnaround, quality assurance)

  • Willing and able participant in prototype and proof of concept projects

  • Ability to work with matrix partners to capture business requirements, design technical specifications and deliver final product
