The Pipe and Excavation foreperson is responsible for performing supervisory duties as well as assisting with general labor and equipment operation. The qualified candidate must have working knowledge of excavation, trenching and pipe installation. Must have knowledge and experience with multiple types of pipe and know how to set grade and be able to double check gradesetter. Should have experience on excavator and backhoe.
Wages will be 24.00 - 26.00 depending on experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates daily work activities, job site organization, reading of plans, etc.
Supervises and schedules work crews.
Organizes job site goals, timelines, and budgets.
Orders required supplies and materials.
Drive to various job site locations.
Assists with general laborer duties as needed, which may include shoveling, laying asphalt, installing pipes, crusher maintenance, and other tasks as required.
Assists with heavy equipment operation, if trained, as needed at job site locations.
Maintaining time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing.
Must have a full working knowledge of all aspects of pipe (water, sanitary sewer, storm drain) building excavation and general dirt work. Must know how to establish grade and be willing to teach new employees the business.
Must have knowledge in the use computers, iPads and phones. This position requires daily time entry for the entire crew, daily foreman report, daily trench / excavation inspection, scheduling of work and target setting.
Will directly supervise 5 to 10 employees

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. 2 to 3 years of related experience required.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.

Standard Driver’s License required
CDL or the ability to obtain a CDL is preferred (wages adjusted accordingly)

Additional Skills Required: Must have working knowledge of all types of pipe installation - musts have knowledge of trenching and shoring laws and procedures - must have knowledge of grade setting. Applicants that can not interpolate grade will not be considered.
