INVISTA is seeking a goal oriented, self-motivated, entrepreneurial individual with high integrity and strong organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills to fill a Process Optimization Engineer position at the Victoria, TX facility. This position reports directly to the Process Engineering Manager and will provide direct engineering support to the Central Control Room (CCR) shift teams on a rotating, 12-hour day shift using process engineering knowledge and skills combined with Market Based Management Guiding Principles and the MBM® Framework.
About the Site:
Principal Products: Adipic Acid, ADN and HMD are intermediate chemicals used in the manufacturing of nylon fiber and specialty products and are transported to INVISTA customers by rail, truck and barge in various forms of liquids and bulk solids. INVISTA global brands that are produced from the nylon intermediates manufactured at Victoria include STAINMASTER carpet and ANTRON carpet fiber for residential and commercial applications; CORDURA fabric for backpacks, hunting boots, military apparel, and soft-sided luggage; and nylon staple fiber for safety air bags and automotive components.
Site Location" The Victoria site is located on 4,500 acres about eight miles south of the city of Victoria along the Victoria Barge Canal and Guadalupe River with approximately 1,000 acres are used for manufacturing. The remaining 3,500 acres including a 53-acre constructed wetlands and environmental science education center are certified through the national Wildlife Habitat Council’s Conservation Certification program for wildlife habitat management and preservation.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Teach, coach, and mentor shift operators and shift supervisors on knowledge and skills to advance the process engineering capabilities of the operating team. Specific areas for value creation from these roles will include:
Advancing process control capabilities – instrumentation troubleshooting, manual to automatic, automatic to cascade to advanced
Process optimization – understanding unit specific KPIs and KOVs, creating a real-time QPU focus
Process troubleshooting/incident investigation – utilizing root cause analysis tools
Environmental releases calculations – timely analysis and reporting
What You Will Need:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related engineering degree from an accredited college or university
Willing to work a 12-hour rotating day shift from 5am-5pm that will include working (2) weekends per month
Able to meet the physical requirements for the role
What Will Put You Ahead?
2+ years of engineering experience working at a refinery or petrochemical facility
Process control system knowledge
Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
Willingness to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boot, hearing protection, and full-face respirator)
