This role will support an analytics function for Emergent Holdings focused on providing ad-hoc analysis and reporting. This role will focus on identifying emerging trends, supporting strategic decision-making, and employ methods to estimate and predict the impact of potential initiatives. Must be able to exercise a high-level of technical expertise in data aggregation, analysis and reporting. This role will serve as a liaison between Emerging Markets, BCBSM and senior business leaders. Interacting with all levels of leadership within the enterprise as well as external vendors and consultants is required.
Responsibilities will be multi-disciplinary and will include:
Performs analyses with appropriate oversight and direction
Able to manipulate data through SQL, SAS, and other programming techniques to perform independent analyses
Creates analytics foundational for Emergent Holdings work,e.g. restructure / manipulate data to make it ready for analysis / reporting
Conducts research utilizing advanced modeling techniques.
Creates analytical summaries from multiple sources of data for reporting utilization, costs and disease complexity. Data sources include health care claims, encounters, enrollment records, laboratory tests, pharmacy claims, pre-authorizations and medical records
Communicates and trains users on model results.
Responsible for delivering high-quality and accurate analyses for the bulk of analytic requests
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS FOR ANALYTICS SENIOR ASSOCIATE:
Performs analyses with minimal oversight
Experts understanding on techniques used to manipulate and collect data
Communicates with business stakeholders to understand analytic needs of the business and translate these ideas into analyses
Supports development of analytic tools/reports,e.g. Collaborates with others to create new tools that support initiatives
Supports delivery of data to vendors, e.g. understands data needs in terms of business-facing analytics problems
Prepares and delivers summary reports to the relevant or affected areas within the company. Helps to determine potential actionable steps can be taken based on the findings.
Address more complex and business critical problems across a broader scope
Participates in and is responsible for advanced projects.
Bachelor's degree in insurance, math, economics, statistics, computer science or health informatics required. Advanced degree in statistics, actuarial science, or applied mathematics preferred. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR Analytics SENIOR ASSOCIATE:
4-6 years of research, modeling or actuarial experience required. Health insurance or health care provider experience is preferred. Strong understanding of modeling software and data manipulation techniques. Strong understanding of insurance related modeling and data. Strong project management skills.
