Sales Communications Specialist

Position Summary:

Cigna is seeking a proactive self-starter and experienced communications strategist to join the Medicare sales team. The Communications Specialist must be a critical thinker, intuitive, and quick on his or her feet.  The Communications Specialist understands business strategies and relationship building, has strong interpersonal skills, and is expected to continually look for creative ways to help the department achieve growth objectives. The Communications Specialist is responsible for delivering clear, inspiring and engaging internal and external communication. 

Responsibilities:


  • Identify critical opportunities to communicate to internal and external audiences and ensure consistency of messages.

  • Will develop communication on behalf of segment sales executives and sales managers, while collaborating with segment Business Communications and Enterprise Sales Communications.

  • Manage a communications calendar and content pipeline to ensure continual flow of success stories, business priorities, new tools and resources, and major initiatives within the department.

  • Manage and write a variety of executive communications for the growth officer including presentations, newsletters, speeches, etc.

  • Plan, write and/or edit content for key internal channels such as town halls, weekly newsletters, critical employee communications and annual product launch initiatives.

  • Conduct preparation for presentations and rehearsals, and be on-site day of the event to manage logistics and handle executive needs (may require travel).

  • Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.

  • Promote an environment of continuous improvement utilizing research, feedback, and training.

  • Remain current with communications trends, tools, and best practices.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in communications or marketing preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience with 1-3 years writing and editing experience (corporate/executive communications preferred)

  • Superb critical thinking skills and the ability to take a concept from ideation and strategy to execution autonomously

  • Strong business acumen and healthcare knowledge is a plus

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to formulate clear and concise executive and strategic messages to internal and external audiences from complex topics

  • Must quickly learn to adapt writing to different voices and styles

  • Resourceful in gathering information from across the organization

  • Comfortable multi-tasking

  • Extremely organized with unfailing attention to detail

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

  • High level of comfort/ease interacting with all levels of the organization

  • Professional and executive presence conducive to working with senior leadership

  • Experience working in a highly-matrixed, deadline-sensitive environment

  • Comfortable working with ambiguous scenarios with the ability to pivot directions as needed
