Job Description:

The American College of Financial Services is  currently accepting applications for the position of Professional Education Counselor within the Student Experience Department.  The Professional Education Counselor provides exceptional customer service to ensure a smooth, efficient process in support of students seeking their designation or other degree program.

This is an entry-level role in an inbound call center, with a focus on customer fulfillment. You will initially learn and become knowledgeable about The American College’s designation programs and graduate school which includes all related policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Inbound calls received by prospects to discuss available programs and courses.

  • Coordinates with more experienced Counselors to register prospects for selected programs and courses. 

  • Respond to student inquiries about programs and courses, enrollment, billing and technology issues. 

  • Research questions and issues as necessary, reviewing results with more experienced Counselors, and responds to students promptly, usually within 24 hours. 

  • Track inquiries using PeopleSoft.

  • Continual learning about the College’s programs and course requirements, policies and procedures on enrollments, graduation requirements, billing, technology, and faculty access.

  • Participate in scheduling orientation and training sessions.

  • Provide administrative and operational support/assistance to other work groups, as requested. 


  • General and business knowledge equivalent to a High School diploma (some college-level coursework up to and including a Bachelor’s degree preferred)

  • 6 – 12 months of prior sales or customer service experience involving complex products or services. 

  • Exceptional communication skills, including both interpersonal & verbal presentation skills, in order to deliver a quality message and work effectively with current students.& prospective students.

  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Detail oriented.

  • Technically capable, with a knowledge of - or a readiness to learn and adapt - to PeopleSoft systems.

  • Manual dexterity for phone and information systems operations; keyboarding skills.

  • Able to sit for extended periods.
