Job Description


Status: Contingent Worker

Job Summary:

The T&M Quality & Engineering Technician performs in depth product evaluation, inspection and analysis of existing and prospective new product offerings for the Extech test and measurement line.  Additional activities include Tier 3 technical support such as field failure analysis, product inspection/testing and data collection, as well as report development and communication with suppliers to drive corrective action for existing products.  The incumbent receives work assignments from the Technical Services Manager and collaborates with Tier 2 Technical Support staff, the Director of Product Management for T&M and the new product council.

Detailed Description:

  • Performs in-depth testing and evaluation of existing and prospective new product samples in support of New Product Introduction and sustainment efforts across the Test & Measurement line.

  • Works with Tier 2 Technical Support staff to investigate field failures of T&M products.  Compiles test data and develops reports for submission to our supplier base.  Corresponds with suppliers and the Taiwan office as needed to drive corrective action and continuous improvement.

  • May be required to perform or assist with routine incoming product quality inspections of new and/or existing T&M products.

  • Interfaces with the new product council to provide observations and recommendations for prospective new product offerings.


  • Five years of T&M product quality and engineering experience—demonstrated ability to manipulate electronic test equipment and develop detailed product test reports.

  • The position requires the ability to work in a team environment and to deliver complete test results in a timely manner.

  •  The successful candidate will be task organized, employ strict attention and will respond positively to rapidly changing requirements.

  • The candidate must be proficient in the use of MS Office tools and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  

  • AS In Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience.
