We are currently seeking a Research Scientist for Consumer Products’ R&D Fiber and Chemistry team in Neenah, WI. The Research Scientist will create value in a cross-functional role that supports development and implementation of new fiber sources and processes that lower cost and improve product performance while enhancing sustainability. The successful candidate will identify new, disruptive fiber technologies, conduct research to test hypotheses and improve decision making, protect new inventions, and gain alignment across the organization to move forward. A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


 



  • Seeking best knowledge from all available sources including effective experimentation.




  • Creating, protecting, and commercializing new fiber and chemistry Intellectual Property while staying current with industry competitive activity.




  • Advancing projects by influencing decision makers with sound economic thinking and scientific knowledge.

  • Optimizing existing fiber production while looking for new opportunities.




  • Working effectively with all levels of the organization including scientists, business leaders, manufacturing leaders and operators.

What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications:


 



  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science, Chemistry or Engineering




  • One (1) or more years’ experience in product development or pulp & paper manufacturing




  • Willing and able to travel 25% of the time, including weekends as business needs require



 
 

What Will Put You Ahead?
Preferred Qualifications:


 



  • Experience and knowledge of kraft pulping and bleaching including impacts of process variables on final pulp attributes




  • Experience and knowledge of recovered fiber technology including impacts of process variables on final pulp attributes



  • Experience with alternative fiber sources and processes


  • Knowledge of tissuemaking processes to include impacts of fiber properties on product attributes




  • Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing transformational fiber and chemistry technologies
