Job Description:
Overview Peraton is seeking a mid-level Linux Systems Administrator to join our team in Greenbelt, Maryland to support our Space Communication Network Services contract in the at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center . As prime contractor on the Space Communications Network Services (SCNS) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment and systems engineering of NASA's worldwide satellite communication networks. The selected candidate will work for a dynamic, team-based development environment for the NASA Space Network.

Responsibilities What you'll do...
  • Design, build, patches and maintains lab environment systems with emphasis on Linux Red Hat, Windows 10, Server 2012 and CentOS
  • Assist IT Security Team with mitigating vulnerabilities of these systems to demonstrate NIST 800-53 compliance
  • Document Network architecture components.
  • Collaborate with technical Engineering teams to identify, resolve, and mitigate system anomalies
  • Develop system log aggregation system for all components (Windows and Linux)
  • Develop products and reports that can be sent for awareness to various groups and levels of leadership
  • Support forensic efforts as required
  • Assist with containment of threats and remediation of environment during or after any incidents
  • Support regular Audits and Assessments - demonstrate system compliance and risk mitigation to Assessors.


Qualifications You'd be a great fit if you have...
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field and 2+years of related experience in Information Security and/or IT infrastructure experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Linux platform (this includes: building, configuration, scripting, troubleshooting and hardening)
  • 1+ years of experience with anti-virus platforms (specifically CLAM A/V and Symantec Endpoint Protection)
  • 1+ years of knowledge of fundamental security and network concepts (intrusion detection, TCP/IP, SSL, ports, switching, routing, etc.)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance. To obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship
You'd be even better if you have...
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows system build, configuration and troubleshooting.
  • The ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical individuals.
  • Network Switching and Routing Experience- Cisco, Juniper
  • Experience with MS Project and SharePoint, and Visio
  • Familiarity with Splunk, IBM BigFix, Forescout, RES Whitelisting, EID Authenticate
  • Familiarity with Satellite Ground System RF communications and components
  • CompTIA Security+ or CompTIA Network+, or both
  • Linux Certification
  • Prior experience with projects involving NASA systems interfaces.
  • Ability to work well individually and in a team environment.
  • Strong Communication skills.
