We are looking for a 3rd Shift Plant Protection Officer to join our Middletown, CT location.

Job Duties:
The employee selected for this position will have the following responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of routine and non-routine security, fire prevention, medical and related activities at Pratt & Whitney, Middletown Facility and to protect Company property and its human resources.

  • Control and extinguish incipient fires, protect life and property, maintain equipment.

  • Perform identification duties.

  • Expected to coordinate emergency/fire/security/medical responses with the South District Fire Department.

Typical Duties:

Protective Services Officers at the Middletown facility may be expected to perform the following duties:

  • Screen and control employees, visitors and vehicles to prohibit unauthorized persons from entering Company property and inspect items to prevent contraband being brought in, or Company property being removed from the premises. Ensure all material being removed from the facility is accompanied by the proper authorization.

  • Make regular, recorded inspection tours of Company property, being alert to suspicious or unauthorized activity, hazardous conditions, assuring security and fire protection functions are intact. Write reports describing all violations, irregularities or complaints noted.

  • Issue identification badges, passbooks and maintain rosters of contractors.

  • Respond to emergencies of a fire, security/ medical/ Haz-Mat nature.

  • Operate Company vehicles and other powered industrial vehicles.

  • May perform a variety of other protective services-related duties, as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Firefighter I certified (or equivalent), Medical Response Technician (MRT) certified.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Firefighter I certified

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

  • Hazardous Material Operational certified

  • State of Connecticut 2Q licensing for fire apparatus or CDL licensing with air brake certification and dispatching experience
