The Director of Product Engineering will be responsible for the overall performance, standards and direction of Product engineering and the architecture domains. The Director of Product Engineering will serve in a critical leadership role over the Product Engineering team and partner with Product Leadership and Business Leadership to follow business imperatives. The Director of Product Engineering will be responsible for the overall architecture and design of all Software Products, and support Product Roadmap prioritization and delivery.
Coordinate with Product Engineering, Management and Business Leadership to provide consensus based enterprise solutions that are scalable, adaptable and in synchronization with ever changing business needs.
Ensure success of Product Roadmap Prioritization process and responsibilities.
Influence senior leaders and all levels of business and IT staff on all areas of the architecture, including policies, standards, strategies, and governance.
Primary Product Engineering and Architecture interface with the C-level executives.
Responsible for establishing and enhancing formal architecture plans including up-to-date roadmaps and future state maps.
Assure IT and Business Leadership that architecture principles and standards are consistently applied.
Provide expert advice on industry and application trends when analyzing and planning current and future IT needs.
Provide guidance on complex architecture challenges.
Manage performance of PE team and report PE Performance to CIO.
Career management of Product Engineering team.
Sourcing additional resources for the Product Engineering team.
Ensures comprehensive and complete work practices and processes are in place and effective.
Responsible and accountable for assisting with communications and marketing efforts for the Product Engineering, as well as PE overall.
Participate in the development of programs as a strategic partner that supports the Company plan.
Participate in development of annual departmental budget, monitor budget and identify budget discrepancies. Research cause and make recommendations.
Responsibility for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of the department.
Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.

EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field. Combinations of relevant education, certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.
Ten years of progressive responsibility in an IT environment with demonstrated technical knowledge which provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. Five years management or supervisory in IT required. Experience within the healthcare insurance industry highly preferred.
