We have an opening for an Area Human Resources Generalist to work in partnership with managers and employees at our box facilities in Asheboro, NC and Martinsville, VA.  Asheboro is a non-union facility that employs approximately 140 employees while the Martinsville, VA site is union with about 100 employees. This position will have the opportunity as part of the Corrugated division to advance continuous improvement of HR processes.  This is a unique chance for an HR professional to identify opportunities at both sites to ensure we have excellent HR processes and implement at additional facilities.  This role will partner heavily with the Corrugated division’s unique HR Operations Service capability team to figure out how to get work done more efficiently.  We want to transform the delivery of our HR services to better meet both the current and future needs of our customers while delivering gains in both efficiency and effectiveness.


This candidate could live in the Greensboro, North Carolina area and be able to work out of the two facilities as needed.  However, we are also open to the candidate living elsewhere, given that they are close enough to commute on a daily basis.



A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Build credibility and trust with the workforce and leaders.

  • Apply judgement based on knowledge and discernment.

  • Influence others without authority.

  • Understand, develop, apply, and coach employees on our culture of Market Based Management®. 

  • Identify HR Compliance risks and develop gap closure plans to address risks while implementing a systematic approach to maintaining compliance. 

  • Interpreting policies and practices. 

  • Investigating questions and/or complaints; resolving employee relations issues and using each complaint/issue as opportunity to understand the true root cause and develop a plan to resolve the root cause. 

  • Drive innovation in HR functions and processes.

  • Attention to detail and strong HR technical expertise.

  • Manage step 1 and 2 grievances.

  • Partner with capabilities to improve our talent position – selection, attraction and retention.  


What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • At least 1 year of HR generalist/manager experience

  • Willing to travel between the two facilities as needed on a weekly basis


What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Previous experience in a union environment

  • Previous recruiting experience

  • Strong HR system knowledge

  • Technically savvy
