Job Title: Foreman
Department/Division: Utilities/Lift Stations

Annual Pay: $35,246.35

MAJOR FUNCTIONS


The Foreman supervises crews performing pump station maintenance and repairs in wastewater collection systems. The Foreman is responsible for training and coordinating the work of the staff. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Lift Station Superintendent.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Plans work assignments, including assuring sufficient staff, tools, equipment, supplies and materials are available on site to complete the job.

Enforces safety procedures and precautions and regulatory requirements.

Works from written work orders, oral instructions or from blueprints, layouts and sketches.

Investigates complaints and maintains good public relations.

Keeps time and material records and completes reports as needed.

Supervises and participates in maintenance and construction activities involving water and sewer lines, fire hydrants, front end loaders, backhoes, and light and medium duty trucks.

Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Knowledge of the methods, practices, techniques, tools, materials and equipment needed to perform the required work.

Knowledge of the occupational hazards, safety precautions and regulatory requirements of the work.

Ability to layout and supervise the work of a group of unskilled and semi-skilled workers.

Ability to read and work from blueprints, sketches and layouts.

Ability to understand and effectively communicate oral and written instructions.

Ability to keep records and complete reports.

Physical strength and agility sufficient to work outdoors under variable weather conditions.

Skilled in the operation of the equipment used to complete the job assignments, including hand and power tools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.

Four (4) years of experience in repair and maintenance of water and sewer lines with some supervisory experience.

A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
