Job Description:

Position Summary

The LAN Administrator is responsible for supporting, implementing and maintaining the computer networks of the company, fulfilling operational and compliance requirements to a high degree of detail. The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrable knowledge and aptitude with a wide range of technologies including physical and virtual servers, switch configuration, desktop and user support, and general network administration.

Essential Functions of the Position


  • Ensure Thunderbird quality customer service and cheerful atmosphere maintained in your department.  Make good and proper decisions that reflect positively on you and the Casino

  • Maintain proper compliance at all times (MICS, TICS, SICS, TEC P&P)

  • All aspects of systems design, implementation, and administration, troubleshooting and optimization primarily focusing on  managing physical and virtual servers, Microsoft exchange, AD, multiple applications including routers, switch configuration, Vlan management, managing firewalls and general network support

  • Maintain system documentation logs

  • Perform or assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing problems and correct them when identified

  • Review personnel conduct in relation to data security and protection

  • Keep current with new information technology security protocols

  • Become proficient in software applications from an operations and systems perspective

  • The recovery of all system services in the event of a disaster

  • Provide input and recommendations with regard to system capacity, equipment acquisitions and overall I.S / I.T. strategy

  • Mentor, train, and support all other I.T. staff members in execution of their duties

  • Maintain high levels of confidentiality at all times

  • Any other duties as assigned or requested by management

  • After hours remote support

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Must be able to perform as physical and virtual server administrator

  • Must have proficient Microsoft Exchange experience, configuration, deploy & support

  • Cisco certification and Fortinet switch configuration experience and support knowledge is a plus

  • Possess good interpersonal skills including positive conflict management skills. Must have exceptional customer service skills, leadership skills, ability to relate well with others, and remain calm under pressure.

  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Must have excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to perform basic math functions; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions

  • Must pass Federal/State Background Investigation and be licensed by the Absentee Shawnee Gaming Commission. Provide proof of education received or transcripts, if applicable. Must be able to pass mandatory drug screens and provide evidence of employment eligibility in the U.S. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:   No direct supervisory responsibilities

Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays. The noise level in the work environment can range from minimal to intense depending on the area of the casino or event center.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Degree in Computer or Networking Science or 4 years of demonstrated experience managing a complex systems/ server infrastructure, or a combination thereof

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check and obtain a key gaming license.
