GBS Strategy Manager at UPS

Job Description:

The GBS Strategy Manager supports the long-term GBS strategy and roadmap by identifying opportunities to develop innovative solutions that differentiate UPS within and across marketplaces. He/She identifies and documents key industry trends and innovations to determine the impact on UPS. The GBS Strategy Manager works cross-functionally and with external partners to identify internal and external customer pain points. This position identifies opportunities to develop new and leverage existing UPS solutions. The GBS Strategy Manager evaluates opportunities across the enterprise to determine where GBS can add value. He/She leads internal collaboration to design and develop solutions for business challenges as well as identify opportunities to add value.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Identifies opportunities for UPS to change/improve UPS's products/services to meet the needs of our customers
  • Develops business cases to justify changes in process, procedures, or products for communication to key stakeholders to drive decision making
  • Runs "what if" UPS financial analyses (volume, revenue, profit growth etc.) to plan UPS strategies for different scenarios
  • Identifies and analyzes industry trends that will impact customer segment to develop projections of customer needs and potential solutions
  • Analyzes and forecasts future competitive actions to understand future competitive challenges

Knowledge and Skills

  • Applies Problem Definition & Structuring Knowledge: Adept at thoroughly defining problems and structuring analytical paths to solving them; disaggregates problems into key issues to efficiently solve them; selects efficient analytical approaches that fit the situation
  • Develops Situational Assessments: Demonstrates familiarity with the UPS market planning process; assembles and interprets components of the situational assessment; describes the primary experience levers that customers value within area of responsibility; accurately defines the various lifecycle stages of a UPS customer or prospect (e.g., conversion, penetration, retention, win-back) and company strategies targeted to each stage
  • Applies Service, Product, and Customer Technology Knowledge: Demonstrates a basic understanding of products, services, and customer facing technology solutions offered by UPS along with their features and business applications; describes general customer profiles targeted by the company
  • Conducts Competitive Analysis: Demonstrates a basic understanding of competitor’s tactics, product/service offerings, and strategies; translates competitor performance and actions into implications for UPS
  • Conducts Environmental Scanning: Maintains basic awareness of potential regulations that could impact product or segment; monitors emerging technologies and potential impact on the ways transportation and logistics companies serve customers
  • Develops Marketing Objectives and Strategies: Establishes appropriate and well defined marketing objectives and strategies; identifies and evaluates a range of alternative strategies to achieve objectives
  • Applies Knowledge of Segmenting and Targeting: Demonstrates understanding of the purpose, benefits, and alternative methods of segmenting markets; analyzes current customer performance and market potential of defined segments; able to define the purpose, benefits and differences between value statements and value propositions
  • Marketing/business development experience primarily within B2B
  • Experience working with e-commerce and marketplace technology platforms
  • Experience supervising others
  • Master’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred
