Castleton Commodities International, LLC (CCI) is hiring a Physical Oil Reporting Analyst in our Stamford, CT office. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact across the organization, and be part of a unique team that oversees the operational aspects of regulatory reporting as well as gain an intimate knowledge of physical oil trading mechanics, risk management, and regulatory regimes. This is an excellent opportunity in a unique group that has significant exposure to the commercial team at a best in class commodity merchant.
The environmental reporting operations group covering CCI's complex and dynamic global merchant trading business works closely with Trading, Scheduling, Legal and Compliance, and external parties to ensure CCI maximizes benefits while maintaining compliance with various federal and state environmental regulatory bodies.
Utilizing spreadsheets, databases and internal trade capture systems to track company's Renewable Volume Obligation (RVO), sulfur and benzene, VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds), and other parameters associated with importation and production of renewable and nonrenewable fuels. This includes:
Gathering, verifying, reconciling, and retaining documentation such as lab analyses, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) records, Product Transfer Documents, and others
Tracking and reconciling tank and vessel inventory
Monitoring and resolving volumetric and/or quality discrepancies; and communicating those with the relevant traders
Performing functions related to the transaction of Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs), including transaction itself, reconciliation of inventory, due diligence on quality, recordkeeping, reporting and coordinating external audits.
Being a trusted subject-matter expert and advisor on the relevant regulations, and, along with Compliance, communicating associated risks and opportunities to schedulers and traders.
Generally ensuring the company adheres to the state and federal requirements associated with the transaction of transportation fuel
Verification of Standards on analysis (Gasoline and Diesel)
Calculation of RINs (Renewable Identification Number) related to eligible transaction events
Preparation and Due Diligence in order to prepare Quarterly and Annual reports and work with 3rd party Auditor for Annual Attestations
Liaising with external counsel and subject matter experts in field to provide solutions for new businesses activities and/or new regulations
Involved in integration of new regulations, and assessing business development on regulatory programs
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree
Minimum of two years' experience in the Physical Oil Commodities market petroleum-based fuels sector preferred
Advanced level Excel and/or VBA skills are required
Excellent attention to detail along with the ability to consistently provide accurate and timely work product with a commercial focus
Strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments with competing deadlines
Aptitude to quickly learn new technical areas including new and existing software
Ability to multi-task in a high intensity environment
Ability and desire to work in a team-centered environment
