Job Title: Research co-op position in the Advanced Materials Group
Level: Full time, 40hrs/week, 6-8 months

Responsibilities: The co-op student will work closely with Researchers in the Advanced Materials Group exploring unconventional materials for wearable biosensing products with improved on-body comfort and robustness.
The co-op student will help to select, create, and/or develop new polymeric materials that bring about novel experiences in our products, with industry leading comfort, on-body stability, and environmental robustness. The candidate will synthesize and characterize these materials using conventional and custom test equipment and assess fabricating methods for these materials to generate prototypes for wear testing. The candidate will work in a diverse team consisting of Materials Scientists, Mechanical Engineers, Technicians, etc..
Skills: Hands on laboratory experience and training (industrial internship or undergraduate research program) in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science or a related field. The candidate should be self-motivated, excited to explore new technologies and interested in hands-on laboratory research. Knowledge of composites, polymer materials and processing techniques, and understanding the material structure and property relationship are highly desirable.
Availability: Candidates should be available full time from January 2020 - August 2020.
Education/Class Requirements: Materials Science, Chemistry, Polymer/Plastics Engineering are preferred. Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical engineering with a focus in materials / structural properties will also be considered. Rising sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduate.
