The Cigna Global Data & Analytics (GD&A) organization offers solutions that provide actionable insights to internal and external business partners and customers that help reduce health costs, improve outcomes, provide financial security and measure and forecast business performance.
The Business Intelligence (BI) Consultant is a hands-on role responsible for the end-to-end design, development & deployment of reporting & analytics solutions across the GD&A group. The BI Consultant collaborates with Business leaders to determine needs, facilitate requirements, design data layers, and design and develop ad hoc and canned reports related to supporting the functions of the group.
The BI Consultant will manage, develop and guide a team of BI Developers, working to create and deliver business information and reports that empower business leaders. In this highly visable role you will partner with multiple business units to understand their challenges, suggest creative solutions using analytics and guide the BI Team. Additionally this role will contribute to the Center of Excellence. Helping establish and recommend best practices related to BI tooling and development.
The ideal candidate will have experience being both hands-on analyzing large-scale data sets and strategic driving positive business outcomes for a fast growing company.
Provide hands-on technical guidance, mentoring, and leadership.
Provide direction and technical expertise in design, development and systems integration
Guide the team through the development, testing and implementation stages and review the completed work effectively
Lead and provide technical training to teams when required and serve as a technical mentor to team members
Participate in developing new strategies and policies to promote engineering excellence
Prepare technical solution and architecture documents, artifacts, work products in conjunction with the architecture team
Demonstrate expertise in business intelligence tools, and designing, reporting, and delivering analytics.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned engineering team members
Participates in staff recruitment, provide training and mentoring where needed
Provide leadership that teaches, inspires, and promotes employee empowerment and career development
3+ years of professional experience working with BI platforms (Tableau, Cognos, Looker, Qlik, PowerBI, SQL, SSIS, SSRS)
Solid understanding of data structures and transformations and advanced problem-solving skills
Expertise in SQL, databases, data modeling, data quality and/or governance and data profiling
Excellent interpersonal skills, and leadership experience
Proven track record of success in a fast-paced environment
Ability to convey complex data via visual techniques to succinctly communicate for decision-making and storytelling
Highly self-motivated to do what it takes to achieve success
Healthcare data knowledge (claims, clinical, pharmacy and eligibility) HIGHLY preferred
Experience with big data platform, e.g. Hadoop a plus
Bachelor's degree in computer science, economics, statistics, or business highly preferred
