The Division of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Kentucky is seeking a Chief for the Division, located in the Department of Internal Medicine. This position reports to the Provost of the University of Kentucky. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct a rigorous and ambitious research program in Informatics, and would be expected to lead an academic division, and a campus-wide institute. The Division is an academic home for some campus faculty in Informatics, but many faculty in other departments and colleges work in different aspects of Informatics. The Institute Director would be expected to stimulate collaborations among informaticians on campus, which will lead to novel studies, new grants, new training programs, and lead to an overall growth in this field.
The Institute for Biomedical Informatics (IBI) at the University of Kentucky (UK) was established in 2015. IBI provides an environment for multidisciplinary team science to advance biomedical informatics and improve human health. and has twelve core faculty with academic appointments in the Division of Biomedical Informatics and four affiliated faculty from other academic units at UK. Trainees associated with IBI are studying under core faculty members.
IBI provides expertise to the Biomedical Informatics Core of the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS), an NCATS-funded CTSA hub, as well as other UK centers and institutes.
