Summary:

Responsible for developing external communications strategies, and designing, preparing, and disseminating information to media and external audiences in support of business objectives (e.g., new products, solutions, business initiatives, corporate social responsibility efforts, etc.). Collaborates with teammates, stakeholders and clients to gather business requirements and translate them into effective communications strategies and tactics. Works closely with clients’ senior leadership to determine their business objectives, organizational goals, and target audiences.  Contributes to consistent company branding, leveraging the NEC global brand message. Project leadership activities include creating and executing the communications plan, and working closely with clients and other stakeholders to present and review deliverables.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • 20%  Build full-service communications strategy/messaging, providing start-to-finish execution; develop and implement consistent messages using a variety of methods targeted to specific audiences; develop innovative communications and messaging that inform and strengthen key external audiences across geographies, business units and functions

  • 20% Lead communications efforts for product and solution launches and customer win announcements, as per Business Unit requirements

  • 20% Plan, design, write, edit and manage press releases, press kit materials, blog posts, social media posts and other collateral supporting external communications efforts

  • 10% Contributes to consistent execution of NEC branding, including the US application of the global brand message.

  • 10% Support executive leadership communications, including ghost writing and speech writing in the voice of executives, PowerPoint presentations and media training

  • 10%  Work in tandem with clients and team members. Work both independently and collaboratively in an agile, deadline-driven environment. Some travel may be required to meet with teammates, stakeholders, or off-site personnel.

  • <5% Manage graphic design requirements, use of creative compositions, visual elements, color and layout in both standard electronic communications tools and in traditional paper-based formats; internal or through a third-party vendor

  • <5%  Develop or revise policies and design crisis communications plans

 

Prerequisites: 



  • Education: Bachelors’ degree in communications, journalism, English or related field. Master’s degree preferred.


  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate communications for a large company, PR agency experience is also a plus.

  • Language Skills:


    • Advanced project management, strategic communications, writing and editing abilities.

    • Ability to adapt to the “voice” of key spokespeople

    • The ability to collaborate with others and establish working relationships, communicate effectively across the organization and at different levels, think and act strategically, and influence key leaders




  • Reasoning Skills: Good eye for design and commitment to consistency of visual identity/brand.


  • Computer and/or Technical Skills: Excellent MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word skills
