Are you certifiable? We’re seeking an electromagnetic compliance (EMC) engineer to complete EMC certifications as part of a team for complex integrated avionics system or solo for smaller certifications. Must have an understanding of integrated avionics systems, including I/O system architecture and equipment functionality. If you’d like your career to take flight, put us in your flight plan.
We are looking for a full-time EMC Engineer 2 at our headquarters in greater Kansas City. In this role you will be responsible for demonstrating a solid understanding of HIRF and Lightning requirements in performing set up and running HIRF and Lighting tests. Other essential functions include:
Leads a certification test or works as part of a team to develop and write test plans that will result in test data that will be used to show EMC (High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF) and Lightning) compliance with TSO (Technical Standard Order) and in particular both TC (Type Certificate) and STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) requirements of complex integrated avionics systems
Demonstrates solid understanding of Integrated Avionics systems including I/O, system architecture and equipment functionality
Performs testing in accordance with DO160 and Garmin procedures
Perform hardware and software change analysis under supervision of more experienced EMC Engineers
Develop EMC safety assessment and correlate failure modes from FHA’s (Functional Hazard Assessments) to individual equipment
Demonstrates familiarity with regulatory requirements for HIRF and Lightning and when to apply them, as well as advisory materials, SAe documents, the aircraft certification and TSO processes and requirements necessary to achieve STC and TC for OEM’s
Demonstrate understanding of aircraft wiring types, shields, connectors, equipment bonding methods, and aircraft drawing systems in collaboration with avionics installation team.
Develop and write test reports that correctly and completely captures test results and includes information required to ensure the report demonstrates compliance with EMC requirements
Demonstrate a good aptitude to learn
Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field AND a minimum of one-year relevant experience with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Other requirements include:
Demonstrates basic knowledge and/or understanding of RF technology
Demonstrates basic knowledge and/or understanding of electrical circuits
Demonstrates proficiency using Microsoft Word & Excel
Demonstrated skills and/or training project management
Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
