Applicant serves in a supervisory and hands-on field position in the maintenance, operations, and construction of water and wastewater facilities within or outside of the geographic boundary of his/her assigned region.
Applicant is skilled in advanced operations and construction of various water and wastewater treatment facilities. He/she is skilled in the repair of plant equipment such as aerators, filters, pumps, lift stations, aeration basins, anoxic basins, instrumentation, motors, clarifiers, chemical feed systems, blowers, mixers, generators, lighting, chlorinators, rake drives, bar screens, storage tanks, meters, air compressors, sludge de-watering equipment, and other similarly related plant components and equipment. The Applicant will maintain a company vehicle, if provided, with essential tools and equipment to allow personnel to perform assigned tasks.
The Applicant will complete work orders on assigned jobs as directed by the Plant Manager and or the Applicant’s direct Manager. The Applicant may respond to emergency calls at facilities and take the required corrective action or assist company or client personnel in performing corrective actions. The Applicant will order, or direct others to order, materials as needed to complete assigned work, according to company protocol, and will have a good knowledge of available sources and vendors so as to contribute to the most cost effective and technically advantageous purchase of goods and/or services.
The Applicant must be available for travel up to 75 percent of the time and be available from time to time to work more than 40 hours in a week in order to satisfy job requirements. Must be self-motivated, demonstrate ability to work with little to no daily supervision, and be able to effectively manage his/her own time and priorities.
The Applicant must demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, various maintenance management programs, data management, and SCADA software. The Applicant must also be able to interpret GIS maps and facility plans and specifications. Must be able to participate in reviewing and managing project’s scope, schedule and budgets for capital projects.
The Applicant must demonstrate knowledge and use of safe work practices operations; knowledge of water and/or wastewater plant operations, policies, procedures, and methods; and an ability to resolve complaints or disputes.
The Applicant will comply with all company Health and Safety procedures and policies.
Applicant may supervise and or mentor O&M Specialists or plant operators in the maintenance/ construction of water/wastewater facilities by providing effective management practices, preventive maintenance programs, advanced employee training and sound decision making principles. The Applicant must demonstrate competence in supervising and managing multiple vendors and subcontractors, sometimes concurrently, at multiple facilities.
