Main Objective: Significant contributor in feasibility testing and commercialization of biological repair products. Will also be involved in the technology assessment and basic science support for any musculoskeletal tissue repair technology for the vet and human market.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages and executes technical aspects of early stage research projects including in vitro and in vivo testing.
Performs and reports on in depth research of competitive literature and field investigation for polymers and orthobiologics for vet and human product development.
Works with product engineers to support projects and studies. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
Assists in presentation of biological repair projects to upper management, and collaborates with product management, engineering, QC and regulatory to supports product launch.
Helps maintain existing products by solving technical problems and providing product improvements.
Reviews scientific literature and creates presentations and posters intended for the academic community.
Supports Marketing and Product Management with technical information to be used for training and marketing of orthobiologic products.
Develops and implements protocols for lab equipment and maintains equipment as necessary.
May be required travel to attend trade shows and visit established accounts as well as prospective accounts. International travel may be required.
Limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts. Limited knowledge of industry practices and standards.
Solves routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures.
Work is closely supervised. Follows specific, detailed instructions.
Good documentation skills and the ability to write accurate test procedures/reports upon completion of requested tests.
Knowledge of instrumentation and techniques for hematology and mammalian in vitro cell culture preferred.
Knowledge of autologous based technologies such as BMC, PRP, DBM, adipose separation, etc.
BS Degree Life Sciences or Biomedical Engineering Required
Prior work in a laboratory setting preferred
