The Cylinder Preparation Technician processes previous service gas cylinders in preparation for production of new gas mixtures. The Technician operates various types of equipment within the cylinder preparation area in accordance with Airgas standard work procedures to properly prepare high pressure gas cylinders. Responsible for safety, product quality, and productivity during the work shift. This allows the facility to meet the commitments to its customers.
The Cylinder Preparation Technician operates the gas manifolds, cylinder drier, bake out units, and associated equipment to ensure proper cylinder preparation. Gases that must be disposed of should be done so in accordance with SOPs and EPA Regulations.
Cylinder Preparation Technicians must be aware of the cylinder and valve inspection process to ensure that gases are disposed of and stored according to federal, state, local, and company requirements.
Specific duties include:
Operate Fork Lift to move product within the facility.
Safely move compressed gas cylinders into and out of the work area.
Loading compressed gas cylinders onto and off of cylinder pallets.
Maintaining mechanical equipment in the prep area.
Disposing of gases through a caustic scrubber.
Following strict work procedures to ensure proper cylinder preparation.
Support Management team with regard to maintenance of Health and Safety and ISO Quality programs.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
* High School Diploma or equivalent required
* Comprehension of basic math skills
* Ability to learn DOT requirements for gas cylinders
* Ability to read pressure and temperature indicators
* Ability to connect and disconnect filling lines
* Ability to move gas cylinders
* Mechanically inclined
* Work in a team environment
* Ability to perform the essential functions of a Cylinder Preparation Technician
