This position supports the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening community. Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Builds positive relationships with members and program participants through effective listening and verbal skills and creatively finds ways to connect them to one another and the Y community.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED, and First Aid
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum age of 16.
Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
Be able to pass the CDYMCA swim test, as administered by the Aquatic Director or designated individual.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
