Overview

As a General Ledger Accountant for Lease Accounting with JBT, you will be responsible for providing business unit general accounting and internal control support, completion of the close, and managing the accounting details and activities for real estate (RE) and asset leases The primary responsibility of the lease accountant is to verify that lease assumptions are reviewed, options are planned, and renewals are evaluated



Responsibilities

  • Assist in the month end, quarter end and the year-end close process
  • Prepare, code and record journal entries in GL
  • Process allocations and reclassification entries
  • Perform data balancing activities
  • Provide audit support specific to general accounting
  • Monitor and execute internal control procedures to ensure that company assets are adequately protected
  • Prepare financial reports for internal, government or statutory requirements as directed

Other responsibilities include

  • Maintaining lease accounting standards, ASC 842 and maintaining the repository for JBT contracts
  • Monthly reporting and reconciliation of rents
  • Preparation of disclosure schedules for SEC reporting related to leases
  • Preparation of state and local taxes including sales tax
  • Evaluating the accounting impact of new, amended and terminated leases
  • Maintaining internal controls related to leases and the lease accounting software
  • Entering lease details, rents and other recurring payments into the lease accounting software


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance, with 3+ years of related professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ASC 842 experience preferred
  • Experience in accounting and financial systems
  • Experience in interfacing with business customers in defining lease accounting and reporting requirements
  • Experience in process improvement and application systems implementation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite

Specialized Knowledge, Equipment, and Applications:

  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards or Syteline ERP desired
  • Functional knowledge of the general accounting processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Understanding of internal control elements
