Job Description:

Job Summary:

This position will report to the Purchasing Manager at the Lansing, MI facility. The Senior Buyer will effectively manage inventory levels to meet production plans and operational requirements while achieving established financial targets. The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet's principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage appropriate inventory levels to maintain uninterrupted flow throughout the supply chain.
  • Plan and procure raw material, MRO, services and facility requirements.
  • Establish inventory strategies for key production commodities.
  • Utilize ERP tools to make informed data driven purchasing decisions. Epicor experience is a plus
  • Coordinate outside services processing schedules. Manage spend vs. budget.
  • Develop and negotiate LTA -Long Term Agreements- to enhance supply stability/efficiency.
  • Work directly with planners and manufacturing on any potential material delays, supplier disruptions, inventory discrepancies, etc.
  • Collaborate directly with suppliers on purchasing initiatives, process improvement metrics, and relationship building.
  • Provide key suppliers with 12-month rolling forecast.
  • Support management with risk assessment and mitigation activities.
  • Apply Lean and Continuous Improvement principles to improve processes and achieve key performance indicators.
  • Track and monitor supplier delivery performance.
  • Maintain data integrity of purchasing records in ERP software and network files.
  • Additional duties as requested by management.

Qualification Requirements

Educational/Training Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business or technical discipline
  • APICS Certification in CMIS, CSCP or CPM desired

Experience:

  • 7+years combination of buyer, supply chain, Inventory manager
  • Customer Service experience in manufacturing industry preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft office applications, advance excel preferred.
