Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to provide supervision, training, leadership, and direction to Real Estate Accounting associates in the administration and accounting of all Publix owned locations which contain almost 3,000 tenants.  This includes implementing strategy, providing business consulting to the Real Estate department, financial record keeping, internal control establishment, associate/accounting process development, operational measurement and reporting, and associate growth/development.

  • managing, coaching, training, and directing Real Estate Accounting associates in the administration and accounting of all aspects of rent and real estate related endeavors

  • overseeing all financial accounting analysis and managing the business functions as it relates to the Real Estate Accounting

  • acting as project lead, Business Area Coordinator and Consultant for various business areas

  • gathering and compiling data to meet the information needs of the department or project requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another analytical discipline with 2 years relevant supervisory-level business experience or

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or another analytical discipline with at least 4 years relevant supervisory-level business experience or

  • High School diploma or its equivalent with at least 6 years relevant supervisory-level business experience

  • 1 year experience working in Real Estate Accounting

  • Knowledge of GAAP, SOX, and other accounting regulations

  • Strong accounting principle skills

  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills and ability to work well with others

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the company as well as tenants and landlords

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with accuracy

  • Ability to handle conflict

  • Ability to think intuitively and creatively

  • Must be able to be flexible in dealing with a variety of situations and people

  • Ability to demonstrate organizational and time management skills, including the ability to effectively multi-task

  • Must show enthusiasm and initiative

  • Must have excellent attendance and punctuality

  • High level of maturity, discretion, tact, independent judgment, and ability to deal with confidential material.

  • Must have excellent Microsoft skills (including Word, Access and Excel)

  • Strong knowledge of general ledger (journal entries and quarterly analysis)

  • Technical knowledge of SAP

  • Ability to complete tasks independently and with little supervision

  • Good customer service skills


  • 5 years relevant supervisory-level business experience

  • 2+ years working in Real Estate Accounting or Commercial Property Management

  • Specific SAP knowledge in the following modules of SAP (Finance, AP, AR and Real Estate)

  • Knowledge of BSS, I/S, Business Analysis and Reporting, Real Estate, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes

  • Knowledge of CQI methodology

  • Knowledge of company policies, employment practices and procedures, and department policies and guidelines

  • Knowledge of the Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliation process

  • Project Management experience
