Marsh & McLennan Companies is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Hoboken office:
What can you expect?
As the Benefits Manager you'll be managing our US Retirement Program which serves 50k+ participants (retirees, active employees and beneficiaries). You'll have oversight of the day to day administration questions managed through the plan administrator. The vast majority of questions will be handled by the first level support but the more complex questions will require your review and expertise. Some decisions could have a larger impact to the overall program therefore will require further escalation to the Global Head and benefits committee. You'll need to present your findings and lay out the facts to enable decision making. You'll partner closely with your HR colleagues and cross functional stakeholders to research, evaluate and deliver solutions that can impact the overall retirement program.
You'll report to the Senior Benefits Manager while working in close collaboration with a nine person Benefits team. The first 100 days will be focused on building relationships with the third party administration's team and learn how the US Retirement program operates and its impact to the other benefits like 401k.

We'll count on you to:
Manage vendors responsible for the day to day plan administration of the MMC's benefit plans and programs to ensure MMC is administering those plans in accordance with the terms of the plan document and applicable laws (e.g. ERISA and IRS)
Recommend plan design changes based on industry experience, stakeholder feedback, and knowledge of best-practices.
Plan major design changes with HRIS, vendors and other stakeholders and evaluates downstream impacts for HRIS and other interfaces; prepares functional business requirements/specifications for systems enhancements; facilitates review of systems processing in development and testing environments.
Support the Benefits Administration Committee and assists in managing certain fiduciary obligations and delegations; researches, evaluates and drafting responses to ERISA benefit claims and participant inquiries on behalf of the plan fiduciaries; assists in the completion of regulatory reporting (such as Forms 5500,990s, 990-Ts)
Manage and maintain processes with respect to certain Company benefits compliance internal and external reporting obligations.
Act as subject matter expert with vendors, Compliance, Legal and other stakeholders during contract review process; Manages contract review and execution process.
Manage the benefits content on MMC intranet site (Colleague Connect); ensures updates are completed correctly and applicable languages (where necessary).
Provide mentorship to less experienced colleagues.
