Postdoctoral Fellow - Atherosclerosis

Location: Clemson, SC

Dr. Alexis "Stocko" Stamatikos, tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Food, Nutrition, and Packaging Sciences at Clemson University, is currently accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellow to join his laboratory. The desired start date for this position is June 1, 2020.

A major Aim in the Stamatikos Lab is to test the hypothesis that vascular smooth muscle cell transdifferentiation into macrophage-like cells exacerbates atherosclerosis. The Stamatikos Lab will test this by using Cre-lox technology, lineage tracing strategies, and other cutting-edge approaches. Techniques employed in the Stamatikos Lab include mouse husbandry and genotyping, end-point RT-PCR and qRT-PCR, immunoblotting, immunostaining, mouse aorta harvest, sectioning, and staining, aortic smooth muscle cell isolation, and cell culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements for this position include a doctoral degree awarded by the time employment officially begins, three or more years working in an experimental lab, ability to work independently in a wet-lab setting, strong writing and statistical analysis skills, competency in data interpretation and analysis, and supervising experience.
